We have been through a lot this week, so I am just having a chamce to update now. Brooklyn just had a surgery due to a bad infection and having NEC which is very scary. But thankfully the surgery went well. They removed 12cm of the intestine that was dead, which they said was not a lot (Praise God) A few critical parts of the intestine were perfect and looked great right now. The top area of the intestine was a bit splotchy looking, but the surgeon felt it looked strong enough that it would heal on its own. We need to pray for that. The next 24-48 hours is very important for her to recover- good blood pressure and other vitals, etc. She will need another surgery in 6 weeks to sew together the two ends where they cut and then she will have several more weeks or a month after that to recover. The infection is still there so our prayer is now that the antibiotics will kill what is left of the infection. She said the antibiotics should be able to kill what is left of the infection since there is not as much there now. She used the analogy that if someone has long hair down their back, a teaspoon of shampoo would not work well. But if you cut your hair to your shoulders, the teaspoon of shampoo will work much better. She is so strong with all she has been through. We are so thankful/relieved that this part went well, and we are now praying for every day after this that she recovers well and fully heals. Pls keep praying as the next days are very critical and important as well. Grace and Bates are thankfully doing well. All three are so beautiful and precious. Thank you so much for your support and prayers.
